Second half of this series was much more engaging because they touch upon the real crime that you love to see, like taking down a huge crime family. Then there are the typical surprise legal ending ones where Stone finds some other way to convict.

Two episodes i really liked were Sonata for a Solo Organ and The Blue Wall, the former dealing with organ harvesting and the latter with internal affairs and a cover-up. Those two episodes stood out the most amongst the second half and i really enjoyed the nitty grity seriousness of them.

I really knew i was getting back to blogging when i finished fixing my sidebar and lower link area that i felt, that yes, blogging, i remember it well

One stupid thing this theme does is call the right sidebar the bottom bar, which it isn’t. The bottom bar is ONLY for links, so i didn’t want to fiddle with it as it looks nice.

I like this them in that it’s different and it looks better than any of the others, but i wish they’d come out with another nice one, i really want to feel the theme i use.

I started yet another show (i know, i know, TV savant). This time it’s that cop classic, Law and Order. but this isn’t just any show to me, this one is special to me. I didn’t grow up watching Third Watch or NYPD Blues or even Cops, no. I’m a 90s kid, so my bread and butter of gritty police dramas was from L&O.

Unlike most shows, this is one i can tolerate to watch more than 4 eps at a time, other i feel bored after 2 (like JAG or BSG). I dunno why, but it happens.

I have a problem relating to the ‘first’ episode, because the DA is different in one of the episodes, one that’s later in the list. But the first one i watched set the perfect tone.

George Dzundza as Max Greevey is one of the few characters i’m always surprised never came back for the second airing. He was the perfect cop, family man, but a hint of cold, ruthless sleuth when needed. Chris Noth does his role in this season good as well. There is no sense of lead actor and bumbling (read: not as good) sidekick, something i noticed happened a lot in New York Undercover.

The Order side is good as well, Steven Hill is one of the best DA characters i have ever seen in any show.

Something i noticed so far in the 11 eps i’ve watched, mainly the storyline is 1] Something happens 2] They think it’s him/her 3] It’s not him/her, it’s the other him/her 4] Some little bit of evidence is found which convicts all the guilty.

The episode Out of the Half-Light deviates a bit, which tells me that they’re realising they were having to branch out to keep the show fresh. More when i finish the second half of the season

Whoa, is this thing still on? It is? ok…

I haven’t updated this site in ages, i honestly don’t know why, i want to write about something, but then i worry it might make my site look differently to other people.

But now, i don’t care anymore, i like posting, so i will.

I recently got a Zune 80GB from the US along with three accessories; a car kit FM transmitter, a wall charger and an A/V out plug. I got the Zune from the Originals site and got a laser cut engraving on the back at no extra cost (see pics below).

The whole process of buying it and getting it to me was a bit rough, especially shipping. Apparently, USPS started the shipping process in February and i assumed since it wasn’t any special mail service1, it would come in 45 days. 45 days later, i got worried, so i asked the guy in the US who was shipping it to me to check it out. He found out that it hadn’t even left the US since USPS apparently sent him a letter saying that they don’t insure stuff outside the US (i got insurance since it was an expensive item). Don’t ask me why they didn’t say that upfront when he was mailing it. So he got a refund on the insurance and 8, yes 8 days later it came:

Most of the engraving on the site was pretty cruddy looking, but i liked the headphone design and got that along with a bit of text on the top, which says ‘Zune’ in 8 bit binary (go ahead, yell geek already)

So far i’ve filled 10 GB on it and i quite like it, MUCH better than an iPod in many respects, i <3 the album art usage, nice big pictures, and no nonsense such as album year, extra info, all that, it’s just artist, album, and title, nothing more necessary. I also love the touch sensitive pad, called a ’squirtle’. If the usage is sideways, that’s how it responds, otherwise the other way.

The software is a bit annoying, it has the whole ‘has to have a hard copy anti-piracy’ motto, which is a pain cos my music is on another PC which is connected via a slow wifi network.

Videos are decent on it as well, i was watching the last season of Star Trek: TNG on it, not the greatest since it was MP4, but watchable nonetheless.

In all, a worthwhile purchase, i just hope they bring it to the Middle East…

I KNOW, my posts have been off hack lately, i want to return and return i shall, fresh and post worthy.

I know i know, no posts for a few weeks, i just can’t get into the writing mood…

I’m still waiting for my Zune Original to arrive, good thing i had it insured before it was sent, Techz’s package is still not here after being sent the end of last year…

My exams are on the 24th, 12 books worth so i have been studying that.

My damn phone is broken, i gave it, got it back and it was still broke, so next time if it don’t work they have to replace it. All they did was reset it, shit, i could’ve done that.

I read about that new movie Jumper, doesn’t sound so great, it’s like many superheroes, with all the same power, meh. But it will maybe be good entertaining.

I’m also upto 1965 on the reading of Marvel comics, they feel so different from the stories we know form wiki and our own knowledge. And i think the movie makers take a bit too much liberty with their interpretations ie Ghost Rider, Spidey 2 & 3. Sometimes the original story is better, retelling it to these yobs who watch anime as a second life to their own, maybe they’ll go back to the proper stuff :p.

I’m sure by this point Mayren will explode, not only have i posted yet again, it’s about one of her favourite fantasies.

I recently started reading the Warhammer 40,000 Novels from the Black Library authors (alongside my new vast Marvel collection, more on that later). My main reading material is the 3 novel Horus Heresy. Those of you interested in sci-fi/fiction novels will really WANT to get into this series, i know i did.

I found the series by playing the recent games made by THQ, namely Dawn of War and Black Crusade, but the storyline intrigued me much more. I got a few codices (rule books for each faction, the series is also a tabletop game) and they all had history and reading material to offer, and a lot of it too.

The series is as good, or even better than Warcraft if you could believe it. And for those of you not wanting a future set epic, the original Warhammer is also available.

Also, i recently started reading digitized versions of the Marvel series of comics all the way back from 1964 (when the release of the Marvel Age of comics started). I didn’t realised how much the heroes intermingled, i thought it was only a recent occurence of the 90s that they all started working together and the Civil War brought them closer. I have a lot of reading to do these days. By my calculation, even reaching the 90s comics will take me 2 years of daily reading of 15 comics, i barely manage 9. It’s made easier by my Samsung monitor, which is a hefty 22″ and rotates 90 degrees allowing me to fit an entire page properly into it, great for relaxing back and reading.

Damnit NO, i won’t just let it go with an excuse post. Futurama is back with 4 movies, and i’ll be damned if I ever get bored of that show.

This show meant a lot to me, it got me through the dry spell of the Simpsons (Seasons 13 onwards) and it was more important than you think. I read the article in WIRED of January, and it got me to thinking; if Futurama never happened, what would’ve happened to the Simpsons Movie? I mean, the Simpsons movie is Futurama year 2007, those same 3D graphics on 2D backgrounds. And there was more. Futurama let go like no other show, FOX was even worried when it came out that it was TOO weird. It rocked. Futurama is the type of show the world needs, and wants, it’s what LOST of Prison Break is losing track of. Many shows these days try to be ‘out there’, but they go too far in the wrong direction, Futurama got it spot on, and i’m glad they’re making more, one of FOX’s best decisions.

The first movie wasn’t the best, in fact, it could be seen as a really long Futurama episode, but in the show they add so much content that you’d just love to watch for it. The alien language, gold death stars, it makes the show better without affecting the actual content.

If only ONE of the movies is good, that is good enough for me, i love this show, it;s how funny the Simpsons should’ve been all through the years. Instead, i watch all the episodes prior to season 11 over and over, but after that, i just once over for the sake of it, going back to just a couple cos of the revived humour. If they make a Season 20, and the original writers get one final crack at it, that would be the best season ever made.

I was a bit busy the last few weeks, got a 93 in my workshop class and ordered on of them special Zunes with the laser cut engraving from the US.

I’m making a comeback, for real!

Been so slow lately, haven;t found anything blog-worthy. Plus with all the holidays not much news is abound. I started playing Gears of War, sh!t that’s a good game. I’m thinking of playing online co-op to a serious extent. Though i don’t like how gamers are being forced to choke down the whole online experience as Microsoft and EA are doing, just because it works on the consoles, no reason to make us do it. Also, since when the heck did trainer makers start charging for them? It’s supposed to be pro bono for cheats, who the hell do these guys think they are?

Onto my next beef. These days we think we’re all that with our digital this and auto timed that, TiVo, gaming communities, Superb gaming tools etc. But some places we seem to be over tech’ing a bit. Mainly, with clocks.

For example, my phone has one, as does my watch (no sh!t), as does my PC, my TV, my Fridge, my car, etc etc. Now, these are all fine, not everyone wears a watch, i don’t these days, why should i? I have a phone. And my TV needs oen cos i program stuff, as does my PC, same reason. The car as well, just for the ease of use. Now we get to the pointless ones; the fridge, why? What kind of lifeless life are you living that you need to program your fridge? Next, the Head Unit. Did some nincompoop think that the guy buying a $150 head unit not have a car with a clock? And more, The MP3 Player. What kind of loser are you that you don;t have either a watch or a phone and really on your mp3 player, and even more so that you don’t already have an alarm clock?

All these seem to point that we’ve run out of new and exciting things and have reverted to what i remember was an episode of the Simpsons, the where Homer’s step-brother comes to him, and homer suggests instead of trying something new, just take something existing and put an alarm clock into it. We’re seeing that with the most advanced equipment on the planet nowadays, i pity us.
