Evo X Rally Car?
The folks over at the evolutionm.net chat forums located some very interesting photos of a scale model for a new concept car by Mitsubishi. Posted by member ‘gnusmaS’, the photos are purportedly from the Mitsubishi Design Europe in Germany. The car in the photos is very reminiscent of the Mitsubishi Concept-X, which is the basis for the forthcoming 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Eovlution. The car has been described as the a “rally” version of the new Lancer.
the lancer evolution that i have grown to love so much is no more. the new design of the evo X is horrifying. I’m a hardcore lancer fan. I own a 2003 lancer ES and a 2006 lancer evolution IX MR edition, and I have to say that this is mitsubishi’s biggest mistake.

I would agree with you, but for now i’d keep my judgements to myself, i would say thoguh that the Evo VIs ie those ones with then huge fog lamps were always my fave model

Mitsubishi, what have you done to the new Evo X, I have seen the final Unveiling for it. You have KILLED the Evo. I also own an Evo. They are truely the greatest cars ever made!!!! But this new Evo looks nothing like the “old” Evo and nothing like these photos. Please Mitsubishi go back to the killer looks of the old Evo, and make the car the BEST RALLY CAR ONCE AGAIN. i have to say i like the upcoming evo more then the previous one and even though under development i would take the evo x over the previous everyday and dont forget guys is said to be a better car in every way

The Evo x is really something else but an Evo.Firstly it doesn’t have a musculine look like the Evo 8FQ.Secondly its nose is missing , the car looks like it was in the Jaws movie.Subaru has done the same to its Impreza.Fisrt time I saw the FQ it actully stopped my brain from thinkin’ , no chance on earth will the X make me do this!I love the Evo but this(Evo x) isn’t it.

wrx has just come out with the look for its new 08 wrx’s. as a wrx owner, i can say that this is largely better looking that the new wrx. at least this has some style…WRX FOR LIFE (except for the 08)!!!

I would never look at evo before, I have been a die hard subaru fan till now - those old evos look to me like frozen loaves of bread, square and clumpy in design - but the new one - mama mia! I love the new evo and I am gonna get it

New pros and cons surely are born. I think enthusiast will be changing sides and more fans will be joining the camp but it still is a Big mistake these two did with their cars. Two great rally cars with decent reputations have turned to grocery getters. Both Subie and Mitsu forgot what brought them to this height……… WRC spirit is gone!

Although the EVO V+VI MR edition are the most estetic of the old versions, it was about time they did something new and radical. This is probably the coolest prospect for a rallycar on the coming marked. I hail Mitsubishi for having the balls to go through with it, and imagine having that front in you’re rr mirror…it just looks as angry as it probably is…Simple, its a mean machine…Hence the nickname “The dark force”.

evo 9 and evo 10 are gorgeous cars… subaru impreza 2006 edition looks great too the ugly rally car is ford focus. pui. i agree with evo lover that the front of the evox looks great but the back looks very thick like a hippo’s lips. both cars are on par

I would like to say that you all who like this have down syndrome. It has killed the evo that i have come to know. It is slower but stronger than the older version of it. The Evo 10 is just a sad step into the future

Hey, this evo X version looks really raw and beasty, know this evo X is heavier but its the safest evo ever, with new airbags system and all that, in design y agree nose killer but the rear end is girly… EVO for ever, the wrc spirit is still there the only thing is that its hidden deeper inside, its engine is a piece of art, it would be nice to have an EVOIX body with this new engine that would kick any other evos engine plus the new TS-SST gear box. Let me tell ya’ll i will buy this car…

How can you guys say that the EVO IX looks better than the EVO X? The EVO X is damn gorgeous compared to the EVO IX. I like the EVO IX, but deep down, I always thought it looked a little tacky.
Speaking of which, OMG, I hope those stupid wannabe poseur ricer boys DON’T mess up their EVO Xs with that tacky ricey stuff. There’s no doubt that they’re a perennial favorite among the “fast-and-furious” crowd, so it’s inevitable that they’re going to buy them. There’s a red EVO IX around my neighborhood. Fantastic car, but it has that stupid damn 5″ fart pipe sticking out. Disgusting. Argh, it just breaks my heart.

howdypardner, i feel your pain, im always seeing civics with 5″ exhausts, probably the only car in existence where the exhaust is bigger than the car :/
And the X is an excellent looker, i think better than the IX, but not as good as the VI

Things changes through times my friend. I know this is sad but things cannot be the same forever. It has to change thats the facts. however there are many evos like evo 3 and so on. if you love evo 6 than the 6 is yours others might prefer evo x…..who knows what future evo might be more muscle perhaps…..:>

This is the modern world and unfortunatelly, cars are no longer designed by mechanics, but people who study car sales and demands.. hence why the fact that all these new cars look very similar, and quite soon there will be no individual look anymore. and adding more and more technology they are becoming more unreliable, more heavier and more deadening. quite sad really, to look in the future this way.

There are some photos of the Evo X being tested in Group N trim over on the Lancer Register, looks decent. My only annoyance is the fact they keep getting heavier and heavier, they’re up ~300kg from the original Evo now, when will it end?

I think the new lancer is awesome. May I remind you guys that no matter what body changes the lancer goes through it will always be the best rally under the hood. So anyone who hates the new lancer evo x should go die in a subaru wrx
